The provincial government of Ilocos Sur organized a festival to highlight cultures and traditions of Ilocos Sur while also attracting local and international tourists. It's known as the KANNAWIDAN YLOCOS FESTIVAL, and it's also a time to commemorate the province of Ilocos Sur's separation from the Philippines on February 3, 1818.
Ilocos Sur has a rich heritage and distinct culture that must be preserved for future generations, as many of these traditions, songs, dances, and other aspects of Ilocano culture are unfamiliar to younger generations. The Kannawidan festival aims to raise awareness of the culture we've been adapting for decades so that it can be preserved and passed down to future generations.
Kannawidan also organizes major activities and events for community participation. As one of the most anticipated annual celebrations in the province of Ilocos Sur. The provincial government and people from Ilocos Sur are doing everything in its power to provide the best experience possible, particularly for visitors and exhibitors.
It restores the normalcy that existed before the Covid-19 pandemic began at times like these. Many people in Ilocos have successfully coped with the stress and fatigue brought on by the pandemic. We Ilocanos are extremely fortunate to have such a festival.
