New normal, New Festival Traditions?
The Covid-19 pandemic made us change and limit the things we used to do before the pandemic. People aren't allowed to have mass gatherings as to comply to the implemented Minimum Standard Health Protocols. Festivals are very risky at this tjme of pandemic.
Based on my own experiences, Vigan City has amazing and enjoyable festivals. The pandemic didn't stop us, Bigueños, from celebrating our variety of festivals. Despite having some difficulties from the pandemic, the City Government of Vigan found a somewhat helpful solution in lightening up these difficulties. Just like the festivals of Vigan before the pandemic, there are a lot of activities that have been held on the celebration of these festivals. But still, protocols are to follow, so the activities that are done have limitations to avoid mass gatherings.
I hope we could end this pandemic very soon so that we'd experience again the fun we used to have; where a lot of people are seen in some peryahan funfairs with their friends or family, watching some festival activities. eat together and so on. Let us not lose hope, although we are tired of this unending issue. So that finally, we'd eventually bring back the genuine smiles we had.
