Become acquainted with a Student-Athlete

Hola! Diane Geil Castillo Valdez is my name, but you can call me Yang instead. I’m a Grade 10 student from Ilocos Sur National High School. I begin to train the sports Karate when I was 7 years old. “Don’t let pressure get a hold of you, stand strong with focus and kindness; you are certain to succeed.” is a saying that keeps me motivated in life. Come and let me give you something more about myself. Let’s see what is like to be a Student-Athlete.

In terms of personality, I’m the compassionate kind of person where I worry the mental health and emotions of others the most. I talk a lot especially when I’m close with that person. I’m usually a short-tempered person but I can longer my patience if I have to. I’m also a positive person because I believe that every problem there is a solution for it. As a student, I’m consistently an honor student since grade school until now. I belong to Science Class but I’m more brilliant in the subject Mathematics. I enjoy solving some mathematical equations/problems. I experienced attending and winning math competitions when I was an elementary student. I’m good at Math but my ambition is to become a Psychologist someday. I’m an athletic person, I’m currently a black-belter in my sports Karate I also enjoy other sports such as Basketball, Volleyball, Badminton, and especially the e-sports which is the Mobile Legends. I love challenging myself. I’m somewhat a masochist since I also believe that if there is no pain, there will be no knowledge that will be gained or learned so I love to feel some pain.

To put it succinctly, I’m a multi-tasking person. I can be a student as well as an athlete at the same time. I don’t want to waste the blessings that God had given to me. I would like to inspire others to become great in handling not only their studies but also do great in other aspects. Overall, I'm just like you, a teenager who is trying to improve herself and inspire others with the lessons we've experienced that would make the world a better place.

" Sometimes you must hurt in order to know, fall in order to grow, lose in order to gain because life's greatest lessons are learned through pain."
